Status of the second phase of the MAGIC telescope
The MAGIC 17m diameter Cherenkov telescope will be upgraded with a second telescope with advanced photon detectors and ultra fast readout within the year 2007. The sensitivity of MAGIC-II, the two telescope system, will be improved by a factor of 2. In addition the energy threshold will be reduced and the energy and angular resolution will be improved. The design, status and expected performanc...
متن کاملStatus of Magic and Expected Capabilities
An overview of the status of the 17 m diameter MAGIC telescope project will be given. During phase I, the telescope will reach a threshold of 30 GeV and a sensitivity of 6.0 10 −11 cm −2 s −1. First light is foreseen in mid 2001 and first observations in 2002. The expected capabilities of the telescope for high energy astrophysics and fundamental physics will be reviewed.

MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov telescope) is presently the largest ground-based gamma ray telescope. MAGIC has been taking data regularly since October 2004 at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on the island of La Palma. In this paper the MAGIC telescope status, its performances and some preliminary results on observed gamma ray sources are presented. c Copyright owned by...

متن کاملStatus and First Results of the MAGIC Telescope
The 17 m MAGIC Cherenkov telescope for gamma ray astronomy between 30 and 300 GeV started operations in its final configuration in October 2003 and is currently well into its calibration phase. Here I report on its present status and its first gamma ray source detections.
